How to use the GLB to STL
- 1Choose a .glb file (or a .gltf with embedded buffers).
- 2The converter scales meters to millimeters and stands the model upright.
- 3Check the size in the panel; change units if the source used a different scale.
- 4Download the STL.
glTF scale and orientation explained
The glTF 2.0 specification defines units as meters and +Y as up. 3D printing tools assume millimeters and +Z up. Converting without adjusting both gives a model that is 1000× too small and lying on its back - the two most common GLB-to-STL problems.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert GLB to STL?
Choose a .glb file above, check the preview and size, and click Download .stl. The model is rotated from glTF's Y-up to Z-up and scaled from meters to millimeters automatically.
Why does my GLB come out tiny in the slicer?
glTF and GLB use meters, while slicers read STL numbers as millimeters. A 0.1 m object becomes a 0.1 mm speck unless it is scaled by 1000. This converter does that for you.
Can I convert AI-generated 3D models (GLB) to STL?
Yes, as long as the GLB contains a mesh. AI-generated meshes are often not watertight, so check them in your slicer and repair if needed.
Are textures and colors kept?
No. STL has no color or texture data. For multi-color printing, convert to 3MF in your slicer and paint colors there.
